Anxiety & Trauma Counseling in San Diego, Ca

You’re exhausted

You wake up already drained. Sleep doesn’t come easy, and when it finally does, your mind keeps running through everything you said, did, or didn’t do. By morning, you feel on edge. Every small thing, spilled coffee, a text from work, a forgotten lunch, hits harder than it should. You snooze your alarm for a little more rest, but it only makes you groggier.

You keep going, but everything feels heavy. The little things that used to come naturally now take so much effort. You find yourself quick to anger with your partner and kids. The connection you used to feel with your spouse feels strained, like you’re speaking different languages. You want to be present, to enjoy the moments that matter, but instead it feels like one long list of things you have to do to keep everyone else okay.

At work, frustration simmers beneath the surface. You notice how often you hold your breath, how your shoulders never seem to drop. The small talk that used to feel easy now feels pointless. Even simple interactions feel like too much.

And underneath it all, there’s the exhaustion of holding everything together. You’re the glue that keeps your family, work, and life from falling apart. But you can feel yourself cracking. You think, I need a break. I need something to change.

You’ve carried so much for so long. Maybe your childhood was difficult. Maybe you’ve lived through things that most people couldn’t imagine. You learned to keep secrets, to stay strong, to survive. But those old patterns are still running the show, even now. Your body stays tense, waiting for the next bad thing to happen. You want peace, but instead you live in constant readiness. You tell yourself to push through, but inside, you’re longing for rest, for hope, for something to finally feel safe again.

You imagine a life where you wake up rested, your body calm instead of wired for danger. You want to laugh easily and enjoy the people you love. You want to believe that life can be kind again.

I’m Alexa, a Trauma Therapist in San Diego, CA

I’m Alexa Hall, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Counselor in San Diego (CA #131070). I help adults who’ve lived through really tough experiences and are  stuck in survival mode reconnect with a sense of safety, ease, and presence.

I specialize in helping people experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma find relief and become grounded in their lives again.

To support this change, I use EMDR therapy in San Diego to help you process painful experiences without reliving them. I also integrate somatic techniques that help your body rewire for safety so you can feel calm and centered.

Some people describe persistent worry or negative beliefs about themselves, others, or the world. For these stuck points, I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a proven approach that helps identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns.

Many of my clients come to therapy after difficulties in their relationships or major life stressors. Some have lived through chronic childhood neglect or abuse. Others have endured a single traumatic event, such as a military service incident, sudden loss, or unexpected transition.

When we meet, you don’t have to have the perfect words or know where to start. It’s normal to wonder, “Can this person handle everything I’m carrying?” As we begin mapping out a plan, most clients realize they no longer have to hold it all alone. They can finally exhale. There’s direction, support, and real hope for change.

How Healing Happens: EMDR and Trauma Counseling in San Diego

I’m direct, honest, and warm. I’ll tell you what I notice as it arises, and together we’ll make sure therapy stays focused and helpful. I believe laughter and lightness can be part of the healing process too.

We’ll use your body and mind as guides. You’ll learn how to recognize what safety feels like, not just talk about it. I use EMDR therapy in San Diego for clients who’ve lived through the unimaginable and somatic techniques for those stuck in anxiety loops. These methods calm your nervous system and help your brain process memories that used to feel unbearable.

You don’t have to retell every detail of what happened. EMDR and somatic work allow your brain to file those experiences where they belong, in the past, so they stop hijacking your present.

Clients often share:

“The memory is still there, but it feels far away, like an old film reel. It’s no longer happening right now.”

Throughout therapy, you’ll take an active role in your healing. You are the expert on you. My role is to create a structured, safe path for us to follow, adjusting as we go so you always feel supported and informed.

What Life Can Feel Like After Anxiety and Trauma Therapy

Over time, I witness clients move from confusion, anxiety, and exhaustion into trust, self-confidence, and joy. They begin to feel spacious inside, free to set boundaries, to say no, and to believe they are worthy of care and rest.

Clients often tell me, “You helped me realize I had everything I needed all along.”

The goal isn’t to erase the past but to loosen its grip. To help you live a life that feels peaceful, connected, and full of possibility.

If you’ve been living in survival mode for too long, therapy can help you come home to yourself. You deserve to feel safe in your own body and to know that life can be gentle again.
